While 5G is barely 3 years into deployment with Rel-16 features just now in commercial devices, the research and vision-setting for 6G are well under way. 6G will be both an evolution of 5G and a revolution built on today’s emerging technologies. Trends like virtualized, software-defined networks that started in 5G will continue to be refined. New technology like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have the potential to change all aspects of cellular communications and are shaping the early definition of what 6G will be. This session will give an overview of the trends shaping 6G and will take a deeper look at how AI and ML will be used throughout wireless networks.
