With 3GPP release 17 driving a new use model for 5G: non-terrestrial networks (NTN), where the gNodeBs could be deployed in a constellation of satellites or airborne drones, the drive to ‘get the design locked down’ in simulation becomes even more imperative for phased array systems and broadband power amplifiers with digital pre-distortion (DPD). These needs will eventually flow into 6G use cases where propagation frequencies, ultra-wide bandwidths, and new technology challenges make the imperative to shift left even stronger. We will introduce a model-based system simulation platform called PathWave System Design (SystemVue) for this paper.
