Base Stations on the Moon: Evaluating Virtual Lunar Networks

30 minutes

Sustained lunar missions will require reliable communications between crews, rovers, instruments, and surface infrastructure. Cellular networks were built for Earth, but they could provide a scalable architecture for the Moon — replacing one-off links with networks that can adapt, expand, and support increasingly complex mission needs.

The challenge is proving performance before deployment, when engineers cannot test hardware on the lunar surface.

Join this expert roundtable to explore:

  • Why cellular is being considered as a backbone for lunar communications
  • What makes the lunar RF environment so different from Earth
  • Why lunar channel behavior may not match model predictions
  • How engineers can validate hardware for an environment they cannot physically access
  • Where cellular, lunar surface networks, and non-terrestrial networks may fit together

Have a question for the experts? Submit it when you register. Selected questions will be answered during the session or included in a follow-up FAQ shared with attendees.
