Testing Next Generation Home Energy Management Systems

Home energy management systems (HEMS) are becoming a key enabler of grid modernization, helping coordinate EV charging, solar, battery storage, and flexible loads at the grid edge.

In this webinar, we explore why HEMS matters, how realistic testbeds can help validate distributed energy resources under real-world conditions, and what utilities, technology providers, and test teams should consider as interoperability and standards requirements continue to evolve.

We will cover:

  • Why HEMS is becoming a strategic enabler for grid modernization.
  • How to evaluate interoperability across EV and EVSE, solar, battery storage, home loads, and grid signals.
  • How high-fidelity emulation supports more realistic and repeatable DER testing.
  • How industry standards such as ISO, IEEE, and UL are shaping validation and certification approaches.
  • How end-to-end test strategies can help reduce risk and speed deployment.

Effective HEMS testing helps reveal how distributed energy resources interact under real-world grid conditions, enabling teams to validate coordination, interoperability, and performance before field deployment.

Join us to hear expert perspectives, explore emerging challenges and opportunities, and discover how advanced HEMS testing can support the future of grid modernization.
